The sun shone beautifully for a while
Until a dark gloomy could came o'erhead.
It rained and stormed and the clouds parted
But the rain and storms returned.
When finally the rain stopped and the clouds departed
The sun shyly appeared.
The waters were high and the land was covered
With such a thick layer of earth
That no thing was discernible.
As the waters receded houses and trees
And birds and bees came into view.
And one day, so did I.

Have and Have Not
Have I tried again to be too much,
To give too much
to help too much?
Have I wanted again to be too much,
To give too much
to help too much?
Have I failed again to be too much,
To give too much
to help too much?
Or not enough?
I've longed to be loved
I've wished to be wanted
I've waited for many things
I've thrown my pennies in many ponds
I've wished on whooshing stars
I've given all I have

Love's Labours
In my time of
tried and true
The most rigorous
experiment of all
Has been that
simply of love.
Definition of or
Instruction for
Has never nor
will ever be.
Self guided journeys
yield bumps and bruises
Of many a wounded heart.
Of the emotions
easiest to catch,
Love is the hardest
to release.
Self-inflicted wounds of
Heartache and Break
Are forever imminent.

The Keeper
Hands circle around
feeling the marks.
Marks that have never moved.
But have seen the world over.
These hands wring and wrought
With the misery of the world.
Holding together the
pieces of the universe.
Chains unbroken
Words unspoken
Time is the weight
On the hands that move
Around the face.
This face that watches over me.
As the master of time
Tolls its chimes.

All or Nothing
What is worth but a measure of popularity?
The populous of the beautiful and granting
Those who walk the streets gilt in gold and
Speak the words of pleasance?
Keeping appearances and good sides
Assuaging the egos of the softest confidence.
Those of easy humor and false show.
Truth and honor, service and fortitude
Are more likely measures of worth.
Some find these to be taxing on egos
Easier it is for theatrics and circumstance.
Leading the way to tarnished gold gilt streets
For words of pleasance to turn to evil
Only to lose face and face themselves alone.

In a Valley
Hilltop, Alone
Wanting only company
from love
Standing dark, bent
Leaning against the wind
Waiting for a wall
A wall for support
A wall for laughter
A wall for shelter
Standing alone, bent
fighting against the wind
Waiting for a hand
A hand to hold
A hand to pull
A hand to push
Hilltop, Alone
Wanting only company
from love.

Ode to the Never Born
Your beautiful face never seen
Your endless wonder never known
Your forgiving love never held
The world shall never see
Your exquisite soul
Or your undying heart
Full of life to give, but
Never taken.
Never have we met
But love you I always will
Never have I seen your face
But remember your eyes will I
Never will I hold your tiny hand
But lead your way I will.
Carry you on your journey
To see the world around again
On a trek you will never take.
The world will never know
What you love to see
Who you love with all your heart
And where you love to be.
